On behalf of the Muhlenberg County High School Band, we invite you and your band to participate in the 27th annual Muhlenberg Marching Classic on August 27th, 2016. The festival will be hosted at Muhlenberg County High School (West Campus) at our newly built Mustang Stadium. The stadium has seating for approximately 3500 spectators, a track surrounding the field, and a sport turf field that is second to none! There is easy access from the interstate, ample parking, wonderful hospitality and concessions, and a positive experience awaiting all participants!
We are very excited to once again host this year’s first festival of the season. The parents have been working very diligently to make this the best classic yet. As per KMEA rule, all pre-season exhibition shows prior to Labor Day will not count toward your six-contest limit for the season. This means that you can attend our festival and still go to six contests once the competitive season begins on Sept. 10th.
The Muhlenberg Marching Classic will be similar to previous years in that each band’s performance will be for comments only. No placement awards will be given or announced. We understand this is extremely early in the marching season. We feel this is a wonderful opportunity for you to bring your band to a festival, get performance experience in front of an audience, and receive some constructive criticism from a judging panel, all without the pressure of competition! In years past, we have even had bands to perform in shorts and band shirts. For you AA and AAAAA West Bands, it would be a great opportunity to get a run on the field where your West Regional competition will be hosted!
As with last year’s preview show, we are having a random open draw, and allowing each of the bands to perform their shows once (or twice should you choose to do so). All bands will receive comments from each of the judges, including guard and percussion. Directors and staff are invited to the band room at the conclusion of the festival to participate in a round-robin discussion with each adjudicator concerning their observations/ideas for your show as the season progresses.
